The First 6 Months

I decided to give you a peek into the first few months with Carly because this blog is starting when she is already six months old, and there are definitely some beautiful, wonderful, and fun memories I must share! Check out my Monthly Favorites to see what some of my favorite baby & mommy items were during these months!
First 4 Weeks
Our first month together seems like it went by in one blink of a tired eye. The first week we were truly blessed to have my mom come and stay with us to help us get adjusted- it was amazing and I recommend everyone ask for help that first week! If it wasn't for my mom, we wouldn't have had home cooked meals, a chance to take naps, help around the house, and quite frankly...our sanity!(Thank you Mom!) Carly spent most of her days nursing, sleeping, and being cuddled. She had a few outings aside from the pediatrician, starting at 3 weeks, which included a trip to the mall, Target, and Babies R Us- my husband and I were excited to get some pink into our otherwise neutral nursery! Her biggest accomplishment: She smiled!!
 1 Month

We survived the first month and life was definitely getting more exciting! Carly was now taking baths in her little tub, she went to the pumpkin patch and "picked" out her first pumpkin, she was spending more time outside in the backyard, which led to discovering her new found interest in the dogs (especially Duke). She had her first Halloween dressed as a little witch (her Auntie got her the little witch hat, so cute!!!), she got to visit Daddy at work, we were becoming more comfortable with taking her out- so much so that she took her first trip out of town to visit family (I was terrified!), and she discovered her love for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! Her biggest accomplishment: tummy time!
2 Months

With Carly's third month came lots of fun new discoveries and accomplishments! She discovered her head, which she found very interesting! She played on her play mat and grabbed toys on her own, she had her first Thanksgiving and got to spend time with all her family, smiled more and more, and even started to quietly "coo" while playing with us or her toys. I started to wear her around the house in the Baby Bjorn a lot, which turned out to be my ticket to getting things done again! We also noticed some beginning signs of teething this month :( Her biggest accomplishments: rolling from tummy to back and sleeping part of the the night in her crib (the other part, in our bed). I was so emotional over this big change, but it was good. Also, when I boxed up her newborn clothes and switched her into her 0-3 month clothes...I bawled! She was growing so fast!
3 Months
Carly got to celebrate her first December this month, which of course brings lots of exciting new things such as picking out a Christmas Tree, driving around to see all the lights, lots of shopping, watching Daddy put up lights, decorating our family tree, traveling to see family, seeing snow for the first time, and then the grand finale of opening presents and celebrating Christmas Day! She was a busy girl that month! She was the beautiful star of our Christmas card, and yes, she was sitting in a present for the Christmas card (way too cute, I know!). My little independent girl was zooming around in her walker and starting to stand on our laps a lot! Her biggest accomplishment: she laughed!!! Her two triggers at this point were being tickled and whenever Duke walked by.
4 Months
My little princess was getting so big by this point, I was truly wondering where the time had gone! She had graduated out of her swing by this point and was taking baths in her Bumbo chair! She was becoming very interested in the water and starting to squeal and play in the bath (so much fun!!). Another exciting moment this month: Carly went green! She got her cloth diapers (okay, I was probably more excited than she was....I was obsessed right away!). You will notice I have an entire page dedicated to my love of cloth diapers :) Carly was really starting to enjoy tummy time by this point and was laughing all the time! She also officially became "Super Baby" this month (*see picture above*) and LOVES when Daddy flies her around! Her eyes seem to be getting brighter blue and her little thighs were starting to get chunky (there is nothing cuter, seriously). Her biggest accomplishment: rolling over from back to tummy!!! Oh, and spit bubbles :)
5 Months

What a fun month! Carly was 5 months old and becoming such a little bundle of giggles and laughs! She got her jumper and LOVES it, so much so that she will jump herself to sleep...wake up...and jump some more! Her babbles were really starting to take off by this point and seemed like she was babbling and laughing nonstop :) My heart melted over her first Valentine's Day dress and giant bow, oh my gosh. I think I had a smile on my face all day long just because she looked so stinkin' cute (and because Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday)! She also got to spend some time outside watching Daddy work in the yard because the weather was so nice that month! We did a little 9 month clothes shopping at the outlets and I'm pretty sure I went a little crazy over the new spring and summer clothes that are out. Her biggest accomplishment: Sitting up!! And trying food for the first time!!!!! She had avocado on Valentine's Day and it was a success! She really likes it! She also tried sweet potato, success again!
